The Telling Stories Press CIC

My name is Rose Feather and I’m the founder of The Telling Stories Press CIC.

I’m an illustrator and storyteller based in Norwich. Since 2019 I’ve been developing and testing ways to make books with people, and I’ve been calling it community picture book making.

These aren’t shiny, generic books which might be nice for most people, they are wildly individual publications which have a particular something to say to a particular someone.

Having your story published and printed can be a powerful process - I know because I’ve seen it over and over again. I have founded this social enterprise to nurture and grow this particular type of book magic.

Stories that work hard

The Telling Stories Press CIC is a social enterprise whose mission is to listen hard for stories and storytellers that are often unheard, misheard or misunderstood, and support people and organisations to tell their own illustrated narratives through innovative, hard-working books.

We deliver supported picture book making projects with individuals, and provide bespoke book making services for organisations.

We are:

Curious - we listen to people’s stories and lived experiences with compassion and open-mindedness

Responsive - we use a bespoke mix of approaches to best suit each story and each storyteller

Trusting - we trust in the expertise and knowledge of the storytellers, and we trust in the always-evolving process of letting a new illustrated story emerge

Joy - our approaches to picture book making prioritise giving permission to play, and to create freely and with autonomy

Who is The Telling Stories Press?

We are a small team. Rose is founder and executive director, alongside two non-executive directors: Charley is a community fundraising manager up in Sheffield and Stef is a picture book maker just across the city in Norwich.
